'The Rendering Engine - The Art of Paul Bourne' will be available to buy from Monday 30th November. Until then, there is a free 7 page PDF preview available to download, which includes the book's contents page so you can see exactly what you are getting.

Now that the thesis is over, I've started looking at various bits and bobs of gaming stuff again. I've been primarily thinking about Hot War (and, in a connected sense, Cold City). Two things in particular–tools and monsters–have come up that I'd like to get some feedback on/have a discussion about. I'm posting about tools just now and will post about monsters in a while, once I've had a chance to summarise my thoughts.

I hope I've put this in the right place!
Just a quick note to mention I've released my new game, Hellcats and Hockeysticks.
The game takes place in a boarding school for anarchic schoolgirls, and is designed to promote mayhem, rebelliousness and decidedly unladylike behaviour.
Its simple and fun, with rules for magic and weird science as well as battering school inspectors with blunt objects.
(if you enjoyed the recent St Trinian's movie, you'll enjoy Hellcats)
I've put the game in pdf on Drivethrurpg, and you can get it in print from Lulu and my website.

Hello all.
Thought I'd add my Hell 4 Leather game - the companion to Sebastian's in NDP's 2 Games 1 Name challenge.
Take a look if you care (it's a lot shorter than the other one). Especially Andy as I heavily ripped off erm I mean drew inspiration from 6 Bullets.
It's an image based resolution game featuring an outlaw motorcycle club, the devil and retribution! Kinda Ghost Rider meets The Crow.
Cheers
Joe

At Indiecon at the weekend I ran my first game of Dead of Night II, as I'm affectionately calling the second edition of my horror game. I watched the Host the other week, and whilst writing up my thoughts on how you'd run it as a game (which you can see here) it struck me how similar the basic premise and Tension circumstances were to Beowulf. I decided to see if I could run a monster movie in Dead of Night, based on a modern retelling of the saga of Beowulf.
