[Podcast] Warriors of the Central Belt

Iain McAllister's picture

So myself and Joe have been working away on a little project that is now coming to fruition. A while ago I mentioned my intention to do a podcast, and the indomitable Mr. Prince offered to host it with me.

Well the final bits of equipment are on the way, webspace is being secured and soon we will be doing a test run of the show. The idea is to keep it to approximately the same length each session, and have some standard features. So I present here the tentative schedule for our first 30 minute podcast.

Record Date: 2nd March
Release Date: 16th March

Running Order

Intro
Proper introduction to the cast
Who we are
Who it is for, emphasise that this is about PnP RPG not CRPG
What to expect including contents of this episode.

What we’re playing:
Games myself, Joe and Dave are playing and how we find them.

Role-play for dummies:
Where does roleplaying come from?
Worth doing a little research here, how far back do we go?
What we perceive it to be about
CRPG vs. PnP

Review:
I would suggest tying this into what we are playing. I am hoping to get an inspectres game in soon and would be happy to do that.

Hypeline
What we are looking forward to in 2008 plus our own projects.

Nostalgia
What we first played, what got us into roleplaying. Maybe tie this into role-play for dummies put the sections together.

Is x bollocks?
Our first debate proper, maybe introduced with some nightline style music, garageband can do this for us. Anyway, I think Roleplaying is too close to the bone for our first cast, but we need to do something that is easily accessible. I think maybe artwork, setting etc. Also pull out our next debate.

Outro:
Thank people for listening, say when next cast will be out.

So that is the basic strutucre we are going for. Myself and Joe are doing some prep before the test cast on sunday. I would like some volunteers to listen to it for us once i do the edit. Basically it will be a trailer for the stuff we are going to do down the line.

Cheers

Sounds interesting Iain! I shall definitely be listening. Where's the title come from?

'Warriors of the Central Belt', eh? Maybe you could have live podcasts from exciting locations like Maddiston, Sauchie and Plean? That would give a certain frisson to the proceedings. I'm sure the locals would be keen to help. Probably keen to help steal your car and give you a vicious shoeing. But there you go. I digress.

If you'd like someone to have a listen to it prior to release, then you know where I am. Always happy to lend a hand (or ear).

Cheers

Andy The Central Belt is the middle of Scotland (where most people actually live) stretching from Glasgow in the West to Edinburgh in the East (or thereabouts). Warriors 'cos all thieves are gay anyway and mages are for beardy bastards.

I played Inspectres at Conflag last weekend, so we can certainly include something on that.

We could also do with some more suggestions for the is X bollocks section. Feel free to post 'em up here.

Oh, interviews?

Are you going to ask Vincent Baker any "Is X Bollocks..." questions at Conpulsion. You'd get loads of listeners if you got Vince on the show (a good way of getting launched, really).

Well myself and Joe wrapped the pilot episode about an hour ago and it was a blast. We had a great time doing it and I will be cleaning up the cast and putting it to some ears some time this week.

It ended up being about 50 mins but I think we have the start of a great podcast on our hands and I look forward to doing the next one.

We are toying with interviewing the CE at Conpulsion, 5 mins to pitch your game kind of thing. Would anyone be interested?

Cheers
