[Games Expo] Sales figures

Iain McAllister's picture

Hi guys,

Well I thoroughly enjoyed myself at Games Expo and it was great seeing everyone again. I think sales were a little slower this year overall but at the moment I can't track down last years figures. Does someone have them?

Anyway, the con was once again well organised and RPGs were certainly more prominent than they were last time round. They had loads of families attend which was great to see as well as fun things like the Tardis, Daleks and stormtroopers like they had last year. It seemed that the lower trade hall was busier than where we were but we still did some decent trade. Speaking of trade, here are the numbers.

I wil split these a little differently this time. The first number is direct, the second number is retail. If there is no first or second number then that means no sales under that category. I have left out comps. This is in order of the sales sheet. I have left out bundles and just included unit sales.

All the best

Wow, I sold 2 Umlauts.

Given the amount of promotion I'm doing at the moment (er, none), that's really good going! Cheers for all your work!

And congrats to you as well David. 8 Sales is excellent. I still need to sit in on a solipsist demo at some point. Eventually i will get round to reading it amongst my vast pile of unplayed books.

Cheers

Iain

Gregor tells me his demos went well, I've still not managed to do an actual 'demo' as opposed to a game :)

I managed 2/4 of Wildfire using your scheme, of which I was inordinately pleased. Next time round I'll have some demos up and ging, so we'll see how that helps.

How did you sell your games

How did you sell your games Greg?

Malc bought one (good man)!

I sold another to one of the guys from Ground Zero Games - they are a miniature manufacturer who's products feature inthe game (they are very nice). I gave these guys a freebie copy as well, and we have an agreement that they'll carry some copies at conventions, which is really great news. The rest I sold to 'Wargames Illustrated' - these guys publish a magazine of the same name (it's a big mag, you can get it in WHSmith). I gave them a freebie review copy and the bough four copies at trade to sell on their booth. If I can get some favourable comments from them, it could be great. They basically sell their mag and wargames rules at a lot of cons.

All in all, I had a really good con! I hope that the follow up is equally good.

Next time round (and at other cons), I intend to have a demo table and sell the game from there. But if GZG carry the books and view them favorably, I could get a lot of business through them. Or so I hope!

Cheers,

Greg
