As Gregor mentioned in his posting about BoxNinja sales, the figures from IPR are now in, so a full accounting of how CGS did during Q3 can be given.
Despite the launch of Cold City 1.1 and Hot War, there was a major hiccup post-Gen Con when it was discovered that the printing of both books was faulty. The printer then made mistakes with the second printing of Hot War, which means that both books were essentially out of availability for 3 to 4 weeks, missing that vital 'Gen Con Bump' (in essence, a boost in sales during the post-Gen Con period). However, those faults are now sorted, so it is a matter of starting again with the publicity for both products and working back up to a reasonable level of sales.

Our old stager still manages to keep some respectable sales going across the quarter.

Cold City
The switchover from the original version to CC 1.1 obviously took the game out of sale for a period. Coupled with the printing mistakes, this means that our sales are not as good as might have hoped for, but are still of a level which keeps us happy.

Hot War
Our target was to beat the first quarter launch figures of Cold City from 2006 (which were 182 sales in Q3 of 2006). We did this very comfortably. Our next target was to exceed 300 sales. Again, we did this (but only just!) However, there is still a certain sense that thing might have been a touch better had we not been hit by the now oft-mentioned printing problems.
Then again, for the first quarter of a new, small press games, the sales figures are excellent and, despite everything, we really don't have much cause for complaint.
The figure in the 'comp' column includes the free PDFs given away with pre-orders of the book through IPR. These are not includes in the final figures.

Malcolm, could you update us on the lifetime sales of your products and how many quarters they have been sold for? You are probably one of the few with enough longevity to provide that sort of tracking data.

Hey Neil, Cold City has been

Hey Neil,
Cold City has been on sale since August 2006, so it's just over 2 years of sales now.
Lifetime Sales (to the end of Q3 2008): 1162
Average Quarterly Sales: 145
Average Monthly Sales: 48
For a|state, we only have figures for the last couple of years (from January 06). These figures represent our post-three tier period, when we shifted to selling direct and through IPR rather than through distributors.
2006 - 2008 Sales (to the end of Q3 2008): 250
Average Quarterly Sales: 23
Average Monthly Sales: 8
The sales for 2008 have been markedly better than 2006/2007. This is mainly due to the release of the PDF and a resurgence in interest in the setting elements of the book.

Great

I think those are great numbers, really. You could add on 100 or so if you'd had the books I think.
The online jazz around the Customer Service stuff that Malc posted some great stuff on really helped pick up sales near the end of the quarter. So, while it was out of circulation for a while Malc did a great job of getting awareness up and running again.
I feel that Cold City took off when people started posting their own APs and Podcasts. Hot War will be the same I think and maybe at a higher level of sales.
I think A&A really helped kick off the a|state resurgence. How is A&A doing? It's agreat book and really opens up more of the City to newbies and old-timers alike.
Excellent thoughts there,

Excellent thoughts there, Gregor.
Yes, I totally forgot to mention A&A! D'oh! The figures for this quarter have not been stellar, but it is trickling along:
