New Hot War Downloads

Malcolm Craig's picture

"It strikes me as a nigh-perfect marriage of rules engine with game feel. It strikes me as fascinating."

That's what noted industry commentator Ken Hite said about Hot War, our game of secrets, lies, friends and enemies set in a post-apocalypse 1960s London, in his 'Out of the Box' column!

Need more reasons to check out Hot War? Well, we've just made available another two free downloads to support your games.

First off. we have a period map of London, downloadable as a two page PDF. This is something people have been asking for since the game was launched, so we are delighted to be able to oblige. The map is based on a genuine map available for travellers in the early 1960s, so it fits in perfectly with the time period. Print it out, scrawl on it, add your own notes and make it a tangible part of your Hot War games!

The second new download was created by Sophie Melchior in New Zealand. After facilitating a game of Hot War at the Fright Night horror convention in Wellington, she was good enough to assemble her notes, characters and handouts into a complete pack that contains a game creation sheet, character sheets and handouts. We'd like to thank Sophie for taking the time to write all of this stuff up and for allowing us to host 'Project Breather' on our site.

You can download both of these items direct from our website

Map

The Map has come out really well. I'm glad it worked out.

BTW Down Street (SSG and BERB HQs!) is off Piccadilly (pg2) opposite Green Park around where the text says 'Piccadilly Line'. It runs parallel to Park Lane and the road to Berkeley Square, but only until it reaches Hertford Street.

The RAF Club is to the left (west) of Down Street on Piccadilly and the Park Lane Hotel to the right (east). Half Moon Street (near the gap between Piccadilly and Line), runs north in a similar way, and has the Naval and Military Club to the west of the entrance of the street on Piccadilly!

Yep, thanks for all your

Yep, thanks for all your help with that Dom, much appreciated.

And you noticed that BERB and the SSG have their HQ in the same place. I should award you a prize for being the first person to mention that! Well, because their work is so closely allied, it makes sense that they are int he same place. BERB, though, have a couple of rooms, a bit of tunnel (to house their big lab) and only a few personnel. The SSG are much, much bigger.

Speaking of downloads, are there any other things that people would find useful or interesting? One thing I'd like to out up is a concise play sheet, outlining conflict resolution, etc. Beyond that, is there anything else we could do?

Cheers

BERB & SSG

Thanks to Elaine's character Josie being ex-BERB and now SSG, we had a good tension between BERB and SSG. Indeed, the scenario was all about BERB trying to regain power and influence in the aftermath.
