[a|state] Out of stock in the UK

Malcolm Craig's picture

As of a couple of days ago, a|state has gone out of stock at our online shop.

What this means is that the last copy we had has gone. In many ways, this is both saddening and pleasing. a|state, despite its ups and downs, was the first game that CGS produced and has continued to be a stalwart in sales, shifting a few copies a quarter.

Our online shop now has the main book removed from sale. It does feel a bit like the end of an era, I must admit. It's still available in PDF and from IPR, though.

I've also had an email from Key20, who hold a certain amount of stock for us in the US, who are rationalising their warehouse space and , sensibly, reducing the amount of slow-selling stock they carry. So, Paul, John and I will need to discuss how to handle those copies.

I remember pre-ordering it

I remember pre-ordering it and then waiting 18 months after it's original release date for it to arrive ;)
This big pretty white hard backed thing holds a special place in my heart :)

Turkish delight swords... hehehe...

Sad to hear it....

I love A|State as a setting and as a graphic object.

I'd love even more to see it re-engined with (say) a variant on the Hot War system.

Thanks for the thoughts

Thanks for the thoughts guys.

Luckily, we've struck gold and those wonderful chaps at IPR are shipping 10 copies of the book to us from their stock. It kind of makes sense, as the old fella is a slow seller.

As regards a v2: That's something people have been asking about since day one and I've vacilated on the subject and will probably continue to do so! Still, there are many years ahead and you never know.

There are still some out

Dr Moose's picture

There are still some out there, I think - well I know of one at Orc's Nest in London, because I spotted it there last week.

The book is a thing of beauty and possibly the best imagined setting I know for the size of book. Never got round to playing it, and probably would use BRP d100 mechanic to do so, but I'd hate to lose it. A truly beautiful piece of work.

One million ideas... and all of them still incomplete!

Oh yes, I've no doubt there

Oh yes, I've no doubt there are copies out there in games shops across the UK and hopefully not headed for an ignominious fate in the Bargain Bin. I think Leisure Games still has a few.

And thanks for the kind words. It's always pleasing to hear that about a|state, even after all these years. I still have a great deal of attachment to the world of The City.
