Conpulsion?

Lynne H's picture

I know I heard this mentioned at the end of/during the rather bonkers charity auction at Dragonmeet and Pooka has mentioned it to me too, so can I ask when and where Conpulsion is?

I need to plan my diary (seriously, its in my handbag at all times or I'm screwed) ;)

Added as an event!

It's a really friendly convention in Edinburgh. They have some great guests this year: James Wallis and Jon Hodgson of Dragon Warriors, Loren K. Weisman of GDW, Andy Hepworth of Exalted, World of Darkness, Shadowrun.

A good mix of artist and writer guests.

I'm also hopeful that Chris Bayliss of Games Gazette will be there. His pub quiz is much better than the other blokes that have been doing it the last few years. ;-)

Are there plans afoot for running demos/indie-games track/god?

Accomodation?

Newt Newport's picture

Is the con non-residential, with people sorting out accommodation nearby?

Just from the website there's no mention of accommodation.

Yeah, that's how it works.

Thanks

Can anyone give me the low down on nearby accommodation (hotels, B&B)?

Or is just easy to Google map the venue and pick up the info from there?

Oh yes, any details on somewhere decent to stay would be great. We were thinking of making a weekend of it.

It's in a very central location in Edinburgh, if that helps at all.

Big Hill

Its also at the top of a big hill, if its where I think it is.

How long has Conpulsion been going? Its just that many, many years ago I went to a games day in Edingburgh in about that location. I played one of the few "war games" I've ever done, a rather hilarious chariot racing game.

Conpulsion has been going a long time. I've been involved in it on and off for 15 years now. When I started it was called Big Con though, it didn't change names till around 1995.

I remember that Chariot game though, it was cool. It ran for a number of years in a row.

I certainly plan to be there running Solipsist. I might be running Eekamouse too, but development of that is dragging at the moment, so I might not rush it.

The website is here: http://ajaxnz.net/Conpulsion/

Alan, who set up the site is out in NZ with me at the moment, but it looks like other people are posting stories and info, so it should be up-to-date and being filled with more info over time.

Booked and sorted

Lynne H's picture

There we go, the A5 black oracle says I can make it, so we're all booked and sorted.

Superbreak is quite good for hunting for hotels and train tickets (they're certainly a lot cheaper for the trains if you book with a hotel).

And I've submitted to run Fallen as well, so a bit nervous but excited ;)
