[Conflagration] Glasgow 21/22 February Queen Margaret Union, Glasgow Uni

Hey, just to let everyone know I'll be at Conflagration in Glasgow. If you are nearby then you should go too.

Bus from Edinburgh is dirt cheap and accom. can be worked out with someone from the con.

Anyway, just to let you know that it's on even if no one has spread the word yet.

Is there any more info,

They have a website and while it has no details of what is going on they do have the most important information:

One Day: £3
Weekend: £5

Guest: Iain Lowson

I will be there and I plan to run games pretty much all day. They are a good crowd and I think the venue is good for a small, intimate convention. The amenities nearby are pretty nifty and car parking has been easy in the past, as it is on a weekend and the Uni traffic is mostly absent.

Its first year was 2006, and that was the best year so far. 2007 and 2008 have been down years, I guess, but the enthusiasm at the con itself has always been pretty good.

Scimon?

I'll definitely be along on the Sunday. I'm on nightshift Friday so I'll be sleeping for most of Saturday...
Hopefully make it along for the pub quiz though.
Simon is running things this year - he'd like me & Gregor to be on a game design/publishing panel or something Sunday.
Anyway I'm going to play and run some games - make it up as I go along probably.

Attendance

Good news is that from Edinburgh... Jo & Alan and Craig Oxbrow will be through on the Saturday. I also hear that John Wilson and Paul Bourne will be there on Saturday too. David Donachie should be there on the Sunday. I'll be there Saturday and Sunday, with Cat through later on Saturday and there on the Sunday.

I'll take along my minis, dice, cards, pokerchips and so on. Games-wise I should be able to demo/run games of my own and other stuff. I'm seeing Iain and David tonight for books and games to take through for the Saturday.

Should be a good con, fingers crossed. At the very least I should get some gaming in.... hopefully including a hack of 3:16 involving space ships...

How'd it go? Great!

So, how'd the con go? Pretty good, actually. It was a small and enthusiastic con and there was a lot of gaming going on. Some wargaming and LARPing too. Saturday was busier than Sunday.

Anyway, we had a couple of simple coffee tables with books on them.

Joe brought his stuff, I'd brought mine and some B-movie for Iain, Paul had some Contested Ground books. I also took along 4 Solipsists on the Saturday for David (which sold out), and he turned up on the Sunday and brought some more as well as running a game. NuMediaJunk were there from Aberdeen too (but with only aproof of Modern Day Deities -- SlashBack is being reworked at the moment), so there were some Collective Endeavour guys there (me, Joe), Paul and John from Contested Ground, and some other indies too (David, Matt and his pal from NuMediaJunk). The indie scene is more than just us, which is great, and the people buying the books were pretty clued up on games in general.

We encouraged people to have a seat and browse through the books finding what they themselves liked.

Sales? We did really great. I hadn't expected nearly so much at the con, to be honest.

And David did OK too. He sold all his four books on Saturday and he moved one from the table on Sunday. Don't know if anyone in his game also picked it up.

So, pretty good con all over. Anyone in the vague vicinity should go next year. I suspect there will be cool stuff going on for the con's 5th birthday.
