[Hot War] Back in stock

Malcolm Craig's picture

Here at Contested Ground Studios, we're delighted to be able to say that Hot War is now back in stock at our on-line shop and at Indie Press Revolution. So, apologies if you've been attempting to get your hands on the book over the last couple of weeks.

Hot War is a game of friends, enemies, secrets and consequences in the aftermath of the apocalypse. London 1963 is a dangerous, brutal place to be. A government teetering on the edge of fascism. Military forces moving to take control. Brutalised refugees treated as cattle by a country they thought would give them salvation. And all the while, strange horrors stalk the land.

Hot War combines a rich background with systems that allow groups to make it all their own and mechanics that really enhance play. If you want to know more, then check out the free downloads and previews available on our website or read some actual play reports and reviews.

Excellent News!

Oh, how many have you had printed this time?

Just as a data point for people interested in gauging how many copies they should have in a print run of a (successful) small press game.

In the last few runs of Best Friends and the first two runs of 3:16 I did runs of 200 copies (having initially done runs of 100 on Best Friends when starting out). Being with IPR meant that I could get more as IPR's warehouse can now easily handle that amount of stock and the run should last a while before needing replenished. The last run of 3:16 (in October) was 550 copies (with I think 15 over-runs by my calculations), and there are still 247 of those left at IPR.

We've actually split the print run this time, trying out another printer. We have had Fidlar Doubleday print 100 copies and Publishers Graphics printer another 100. We've never used PG before, but have heard good things about them. Their prices are certainly competitive, but their customer service is somewhat lacking when compared to FD. We're still waiting for the PG copies to be printed and shipped.

So, 200 in total, which should see us through the summer convention season at least.
