It looks to be good times for the UK scene and Cubicle 7. Angus has been very easy to deal with (as has Dom). I hope it does pretty well as a Cubicle 7 book. I think it'll reach a much larger number of gamers than I can reach through OBS, IPR and me at conventions.
I can see the Hutton sells out headlines now...

Seriously though, I'd be really interested to know a bit about your thought processes leading to this, to what extent it's an avenue into distro or whether it's something more? Useful fodder for other folks considering making agreements with more traditional publishers.

Interested in thought processes, that is, as I might want to go this route myself.
It seems you can sell stuff through IPR and OBS as well - the former by buying your own books from C7 at a retailer discount, so presumably you'd want to sell to individuals only. Haven't run the numbers on what you'd actually get back from that.

This is my take on it

For me it's a way of getting the books into distribution -- where someone else has the infrastructure to do so and is willing to take on the cost/risk of the print run. Now, I don't have the set up to do that, nor do I want to develop the structure myself. I'm also unwilling to pay for a big print run and deal with distro. However, Cubicle 7 do have the structure and are happy to deal with distro, and in return they get a good profit out of the book if it is successful (which we both think it will be). It really is a partnership. I have a product that they like, they have a distro set-up that I want to make use of. And I think the profit they'll make from the book is fair reward.
I don't want to have all my eggs in one or two baskets either (IPR, OBS, for example), so I am diversifying. I also plan to sell direct too, that's something else I'm working on getting set up.
So, for 3:16 it doesn't affect how I sell my book in (relatively) small numbers, but it opens the door for C7 to move a lot of books in wider circles.
For Carnage Amongst The Tribes that'll be exclusive through C7. I'll see how that goes. If it works for both of us it might be something I do in future for other books (if it works for them too and are interested of course!).

The deal doesn't affect how I sell 3:16 myself (through IPR, OBS or direct) at all.
For CATT I have no intention of selling that myself, that'll be through C7 exclusively.
Angus has been careful in picking successful books (Houses of the Bloodes, Grim's 100 series) and I think that's a smart move. He has his finger on the pulse of what will sell I think, and so that's why I think he'll have a good hit rate with his plan. I'm happy to be on board.
