I am like a kid at Christmas, on the day when the art arrives for any game. This week has been no different!
This is the inked and coloured image for the cover

You're not the only one - I'm like that whenever I get new art! Exciting!
I love the second piece - who is this tattooed chap?
Keep posting them as you get the Neil - looking good so far.
Quequeeg

Peter is, apparently, a huge fan of Moby Dick and this character is based on Quequeeg from that book. I think it is fantastic and simply oozes character. In fact, I was considering doing a little competition as some pre-promotion for the game for someone to come up with his 'story' - how a samoan warrior ended up on a Royal Navy vessel.
I have the rest of the art - I'll post a couple more later on, but I'm hiding some of it until the book comes out too.

Which begs the question -

Which begs the question - can Beat to Quarters be used for ship-based games outside of the Napoleonic Wars? Such as in a piratical game or when hunting whales?
Yes and No

Yes it can. HOWEVER - and this is a big however - the game is written and carved to play members of the Royal Navy. There are no pirate backgrounds, pirate traits or other piratey things in the book. There be pirates, oh yes, but they are 19thC pirates and privateers rather than bloody Jack Sparrow! It would be very possible to do a whaling mission - indeed, the book 'The Corvette' by Richard Woodman is the story of a RN ship who has to escort a very surly group of whalers around the Arctic whilst dodging the French and other nasties.
