Talking to Iain over the weekend, I'm starting to doubt I have anything to sell at Dragonmeet.
Blackguard is coming together slowly and pleasingly and would be the major candidate to release. It looks great, which helps. However, it's coming together more slowly than I expected, and I'm not sure I'm comfortable releasing it as an ashcan.
A Need To Kill has had a couple of good playtests, but just hasn't been tested enough.
The improv book, Play Unsafe, will be ready, but I don't want my only product to be an improv book.
Can I, and should I, pull out gracefully? I realise I've been rather definite about it until now. Still, I think the stall might run better with lower numbers.
Just exploring ideas, at the moment, but I wanted to discuss as soon as possible, since I'd imagine I'll have to make a definite decision this week.

Hmm, how much is the individual stake, Graham, if you don't mind me asking? I have a couple of products I could sell at such a convention, and a third that might *just* be finished in time for then, so if it's an affordable amount and someone can give me some hints on how much product to send I might be interested in taking over your 'slot' so to speak.
Can't promise though. Money is tight, and christmas will be getting close by then.

Well...

Ash, the thing is, no money's changed hands yet. So it's not quite a question of taking over a slot.
If you wanted to be part of the stall, in some way, that'd be something to talk to the rest of the Endeavour about: separate from whether I'm on the stall. You see what I mean?
I'm posting this because, up until now, I've been very definite about attending Dragonmeet, and I want to think about whether I should withdraw, and whether I can withdraw gracefully without letting anyone down.
(My own feeling is that one less person on the stall would be a good thing, actually. We were looking at 8 or 9 people, before, and that's getting crowded.)

No problem

Hi Graham
I think you're wise to be cautious about the deadline for your stuff at Dragonmeet, in fact Dragonmeet (and perhaps next year's Games Expo) may become the UK equivalent of the "GenCon release fixation" that pervades the hobby in the US.
I am perfectly comfortable with you withdrawing gracefully (...though I will then remove you from the advert! Ha!).
As I have to send Angus the money this week I would like to have the final committed list by Wednesday lunch time as I'll post the cheque off in the afternoon.
I'll take Ash's question to another thread.

It's funny you should mention that - me, Iain and Graham said exactly the same thing over dinner last night. I've caught myself saying "oh, Six Bullets will definitely be out for Dragonmeet" more than once. It won't. It will be out when it's ready, whenever that is.

I am only going to be attending Dragonmeet wearing my CGS hat with 'The Giant Brain' taking a back burner, probably until conpulsion next year, when my first products will hit. Bmovie is ready but I have been frustrated by printers and others just need some work.
I will definitley be in for MJ and CGS as a whole though. Must make sure to learn Cold City before I go down!

No problem Iain. I'll leave it up to you, Malc, Paul and John to figure out what you guys need to do, and want to have on the booth at DM.
And I can leave the Cold City 15-minute demos to you too. :*)
Thanks for letting me know.
OK

Well, let's say I won't be on the stall. Blackguard needs more work before it can reliably bring the awesome and rock.
I will still bring the awesome, in considerable amounts, by running games and so on.
I'll also be happy to run that seminar, if you'd like me to.

I'm happy for you to run the seminar

I'm happy for you to run the seminar (is that OK with everyone else?), and I can flag it up with Angus when I send in our forms.
I think we should have an "in development" bit of our flier listing your books, Solipsist, Duty & Honour, etc. that are being actively discussed and developed on here.

Kudos, Iain, that's a very mature decision. CC isn't too complex to learn and I'm sure others can run you through the demo before the doors open at DM. I know that Ady is very familiar with the game, having run it quite a few times.

Done

The money is off to Angus and the form is completed. We have Matt, Joe, Andy, Iain (representing Malc/CGS), Tim, Rich and me on the booth. We'll be associate sponsors and should have two tables in the hall, an advert in the programme and a flyer in the bag. We are also providing a 15-min seminar as part of the programme.
I will finish the advert this week with an aim to sending it before GaelCon. I will also pass on some logos to Angus.
Graham has got a con ticket and is pencilled in for the seminar about "How to GM a game without planning", though he is happy for someone else on the booth to do a seminar instead. I think everyone is happy with Graham doing it, but if you have any thoughts on the seminar then kick start a thread on it.
Now we just need to get a flyer organised, designed and printed. The due date is for 500 flyers to be with Angus at least one week before the con. I feel we should have another 100 flyers on the booth too (and for distribution to friendly retailers, etc.). If someone can pick that up then great.
Ding!Ding!Ding! All aboard.
Oh! For info...

For anyone interested in planning for future years the con presence is costing £289 in total.
For reference our involvement at GamesExpo cost £135, and I'd imagine a more involved presence for us at Games Expo next year (i.e. an upgrade from being a Contributing Sponsor is a distinct possibility).

That would seem likely Gregor and hopefully the contribution we made last year will put is in good stead with the organisers.
