So there are a few of us going to Conception, and I was planning on taking advantage of that fact by trying out a couple of my new games, harnessing the captive audience for use in my nefarious playtesting schemes.
Then I thought - why be so selfish, why not share the love? So I present to you ... Playtest Camp! Over the course of Conception, whilst I'm not playing or running other games, I will do my best to playtest stuff (mine, yours, everybody's) and maybe even get other people to playtest stuff too. After all, there's a whole convention worth of unwitting victims ... err, gamers.
So if you have something you'd like us to try out, send it my way. The games don't have to be complete, but the more stuff you can provide me to make the lives of the playtesters easier, the better it will be.
So that is the challenge! Send me stuff to playtest, and I will try my hardest to playtest it at Conception.

Sounds cool, cheers for the offer Andrew.
Here's Alien Hominid a daft little RPG version of a quality video game - it could do with some playtesting!

Thanks for the offer, that sounds ideal. I'll email you the Situation Sheet and Character Creation elements for Everlasting Empire, as they are ecrtainly parts I'd like to get some feedback on at the moment.

We'll be sure to get some playtesting in on that too. Andrew will have the whip out if we don't ;o) . I need to get something together for Anarchy as well. Preferably something more than scattered notes in various notepads ^_^

Well personally I refuse to playtest anything that doesn't come as a fully printed, illustrated, hardbound book, so get working Geoff!
Seriously though - why do we need any more than notes? The playtest will involve you sitting us down, explaining some stuff and getting us to roll dice. No one except you needs to read it, at least not at this stage. Stop making a rod for your own back!
Ok, so far on the Playtest Camp it looks like we have: Anarchy, 3:16, Everlasting Empire, Reel Adventures, Six Bullets, Yesterday's Tomorrow, Growing Pains, Umlaut, Gladiators, the Gay Recruitment Squad Wants YOU!, Pinnacle Empty Quiver and Business Solutions.
Have I missed anything?

Yes that is a rather long list! But I figure they won't all be playtested by me and you! Hopefully other people can be roped in as well.

I'll definitely do some playtesting. I'm planning to be there for Saturday.
Can I add one possibility to the list? Emily Care Boss said I could playtest Sign In Stranger. I'm absolutely desperate to play this game, so if it's possible, it'd be great.

Andrew, my current plan is to combine a playtest of Grey Ranks with one of The Gay Recruitment Squad Wants YOU!
"Gay Ranks" will be about Scouts in wartime Poland on a mission to convert other boys to their way of life.
(Um, yes, I'd like to play Grey Ranks).
By the way, I think I'll arrive on Friday morning.

May I groan weakly at that.
Sounds like an extremely solid lineup of games for playtest. I must admit that Everlasting Empire is somewhat weak in terms of what is there already, but I'm looking forward to getting some initial feedback on the situation sheet and character creation mechanisms.

Well I'm pleased to report that the first Playtest Camp was a success. We ran great games of Umlaut, Gay Recruitment Squad, Anarchy and Six Bullets, and a lot of good feedback was provided.
Unfortunately time was far shorter, and I was a tad ambitious, so we only got as far as playtesting the games of the designers that were there. So I do apologise for all those of you whose playtest docs I took with me but didn't get to play.
I'd love to try it again though - perhaps some playtesting events at Conpulsion? That was everybody can try out their new games with a new audience?
How did the rest of you feel it went? Rich? Graham? Geoff?
Anarchy playtest
Submitted by Geoff Hall on Mon, 05/02/2007 - 10:07.
I thought that the playtest of Anarchy (1st shot at the bare bones of character creation and a couple of scenes to have a crack at the mechanics) was extremely useful. I'll post something up myself in a few days once I have the recordings we made using Jan's ipod. I'll also have worrying conversations about hob nobs and butt rape if I recall correctly but there ya go...

Well, these things can't be helped. I'm sure we get get some playtesting for the other games done at some point. And please do feel free to test bits of EE yourself. Any feedback at all on the situation sheet/character creation sections as they stand would be great.
Also looking forward to hearing how the CE stand went at the con.

The playtests were great. We got through Six Bullets and Gay Recruitment Squad in a four hour slot and Gladiators got an outing as well.
I'm having slight issues with Gay Recruitment Squad, and I've posted in the Forge Playtesting Forum. Any help would be much appreciated.
