[Reel Adventures] Looking for playtesters

Iain McAllister's picture

Amongst other projects I am back working on Reel Adventures, integrating some of the things from the last few playtests and polishing up some bits of the system. I think it really needs played by people who aren't me to take it forwards so am looking for some playtesters.

Reel Adventures is designed to be a very low prep, one session game, playable in about 3 hours.

Any help in this regard would be appreciated.

Cheers

Iain

[Umlaut] Playtest In Wellington

Malcolm Craig's picture

This report has also been cross-posted to a thread on The Forge

It was a Friday night in Wellington when we sat down with a quantity of beers and a burning desire to play test Umlaut to the fullest. A lo, did we did such a thing. In the manner of Iron Maiden at Donnington Monsters of Rock back in '87, we bestrode the musical world as colossi.

[Playtesting] As a designer what do you look for in a group?

Iain McAllister's picture

So I am on the cusp of starting this playtesting site and am thinking about what rules to lay down about how it is to be used and organised.

As designers what do you guys look for in a playtesting team? I personal look for people who are honest in their feedback and nice to interact with.

Do you need to know the sort of games they play?

Do you need to know their RP experience?

Anthing else you would want to know?

Cheers

[Playtesting site] First steps

Iain McAllister's picture

Over on story games I have been talking about my concerns with the ashcan front and starting to mention the idea of having a site purely dedicated to playtesting.

My idea is that the site would have 2 parts to it.

1) A section for designers looking for playtest teams. This would hopefully consist of somewhere that people can post the types of games they play and the kind of thing they would be interested in playtesting. Also where designers can post their game ideas for pickup.

[Ordinary Angels] First playtest

So yesterday I had some friends over and we had a quick playtest of Ordinary Angels, my game of angelic cops. Me and Fred talk about it quite extensively on my livejournal, here.

[Ropecon] Labyrinths & Lycanthropes

Gregor Hutton's picture

Right, I'm back from a sequence of travels and with only Germany to come this weekend I may have time to post more AP...

...so Labyrinths & Lycanthropes got a couple of run outs at RopeCon in Finland.

This is a low-prep D&D type of game in the mould of Elfs, Drowning & Falling and, I suspect, a lot of actual D&D from the early years.

It was bawdy and featured some pretty wild gear. Matt Machell had Lacy Leggings of something, while I had a Horn of Humping. This wasn't juvenile hur-hurring, oh no, this was affirmative and bold new-style play.
