Monkey

[Monkey] Cheeky Monkey Edition finished

Well in preparation for the upcoming Furnace I've booshed together a slightly updated ashcan of Monkey - which I'm calling the Cheeky Monkey edition.

Couple of reasons why

1. I've had several requests for updated rules so people who played and enjoyed it at Continuum can playtest it with their home group.

D101 sells out at Continuum!!!

Just came back from the mighty Continuum. Now that I'm back in the land of the living here's a full run down of what 'we' did this con.

Background
Continuum is held biannually at one of the halls of residence at Leicester University. This time out it was at the brand spanking new 'New Hall' in Oadby. Decent enough University accom, even though I have a slight issue with the quality of the food on site.

So I've bundled up the first five chapters of Monkey, (Introduction, Character creation, Action System, Developing the Story, and a scenario "Bag of Wind") into a rough ashcan.

There's more than enough to play the game, but its not the complete thing with full setting info, nice illustrations (interested artists please contact me) and it still needs vigorous playtesting. But I'm over the moon, its another milestone reached.

Monkey Playtest!

Well it had to happen sooner or later and despite much procrastination on my part I finally got to run a playtest of my Monkey the Storytelling Game (which I'm more or less certain is going to be the final title) yesterday for my regular Sunday group.

The two players, Rob and Mr C play in my regular HeroQuest game, which they are having a whale of a time in, and are also quite into D&D. Monkey has some similarities to HQ, in many ways it is a simplified HQ lite, so they picked up the system quickly. They also have a reasonable interest in the orient, which meant they absorbed the background of the game pretty quickly.
