[Hot War] Monsters & Tools

Malcolm Craig's picture

Now that the thesis is over, I've started looking at various bits and bobs of gaming stuff again. I've been primarily thinking about Hot War (and, in a connected sense, Cold City). Two things in particular–tools and monsters–have come up that I'd like to get some feedback on/have a discussion about. I'm posting about tools just now and will post about monsters in a while, once I've had a chance to summarise my thoughts.

Iain's Indiecon report

Iain McAllister's picture

Hi folks,

Finally managed to get sat down in front of a computer long enough to sum up my feelings about my first Indiecon. I had been to Conception a couple of times and was persuaded by Mr. Stokes that Indiecon would be right up my alley and a great place to get some playtesting in.

CGS Q3 2009 Sales

Malcolm Craig's picture

Here we go with the Q3 sales. Overall, there was a pleasant increase in sales over Q3, mainly down to the boost that the ENnies nominations and our celebratory sale had. However, it's important to note that (from where I'm sitting), it was the direct sales boost that really affected our numbers. IPR did not experience a sharp increase due to the ENnies.

Hot War / Cold City Cthulhu Hack?

Hi

Not sure if this is the correct forum, but struggled to think of a better place for it...

I'm thinking of running something for IndieCon, someone recently suggested I run the Delta Green game I'd talked about running. Originally I was going to use Unknown Armies for this, but there's a lot of potential conflict in there, with competing agendas, so I thought of Hot War and Cold City (having played the former again at Furnace and won the latter in the raffle). Also, with it being "Indie" Con it seems more appropriate to use a small press publisher.

[Contested Ground Studios] Cold War Sale

Malcolm Craig's picture

To coincide with the anniversaries of two important periods in modern history, Contested Ground Studios is having a sale.

October sees the anniversary of the Cuban Missile Crisis, a time of incredible fear and tension.

November sees the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, a time of great celebrations and the symbolic end of the Cold War.
