Contenders has been lucky enough to gather some excellent actual play reports recently. Woo hoo! Thanks guys.

I’m thinking of The Durham 3’s game. Check out the podcasts here (33 - 36)
www.durham3.com And posted about on
The Forge

Also the Hell’s Kitchen game at the Go Play SE Portland event run by Uruush(Matt)

Check out this funky wiki
The Struggle for Stirland.

If anyone on these forums works for gamesworkshop have a word about them paying me megabucks for my game since they don't yet have a cool narrative campaign system for warhammer. ;)

PS Whats in the new skaven book?

[Contenders] Why does it work?

Joe Murphy's picture

A friend read Contenders this week and mailed me the following:

To quickly mention the thing that had me worried about Contenders'
scene resolution: it seems to me that you set up a scene, then run
through a game mechanical algorithm that determines the outcome in
number terms, and THEN when all that is done you create narrative that
follows the parameters you've set up. This makes the narrative feel to
me like an afterthought, like the specific details of what we say
actually happens don't really matter.

[Contenders] Play at Gamewang!

Malcolm Craig's picture

First game on the Sunday of Gamewang! was the always reliable Contenders. It's a fact that I have never played in a bad game of Contenders. Some games have been better than others, but it's always delivered good, solid play every time it has been rolled out. So, there were no worries that it wasn't going to deliver this time round.

A Gamewang! Retrospective

Gamewang! is over. But it was good. Fun for all concerned, I hope. We played lots of games, drank lots of drinks, ate lots of barbecue and threw lots of frisbees.

We played roleplaying games like...

3:16
Umlaut
Hot War
Contenders
D&D 4e
Labyrinths & Lycanthropes
My Life With Master

All of which provided great fun and enjoyment. D&D 4e was so popular, it ran for two of the four game sessions!

And there were card and boardgames like...

Revenge of the B-Movie
Bang!
Agricola
For Sale
Bohnanza
Infernal Machines
Apples To Apples
